Fair Housing
ABOUT THE FAIR HOUSING BALLOT INITIATIVE
This would make source of income and criminal history protected classes in Akron housing. A landlord could not refuse an applicant solely for paying rent with a housing voucher, or solely for past conviction.
Greater Protections
ABOUT THE GREATER PROTECTIONS BALLOT INITIATIVE
This would prohibit rental application and screening fees, and require landlords to offer security deposit installment plans rather than a single lump sum payment.
SAFETY
ABOUT THE SAFETY BALLOT INITIATIVE
This would require the Police Chief to respond in writing to the independent Police Auditor's findings, grant the oversight system subpoena power, and add community-selected seats to the Citizens' Police Oversight Board.
